Eight lives have been lost, and many more have suffered in the hands of a government that vowed to protect us. And now, more crucial than ever, Americans are uniting to fight against this tyranny.
January 30th, 2026. Whole cities from across the nation unite under one message: “We want ICE out.” On the last Friday and Saturday of January, hundreds of thousands of people went on strike, leaving schools and workplaces and refusing to purchase items in protest against recent activities by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which is also commonly known as ICE.
Specifically, the American people are protesting against the violence of ICE that is rooted in militarized tyranny and fear in a land that is supposed to be free and welcoming for all. This movement originated in Minneapolis, where organizers led several student groups from the University of Minnesota in a campaign to “stop funding ICE.” They urge a national shutdown in an effort to stop funding the economy and vocalize their disapproval of the reckless violence that ICE has enacted on innocent Americans. On Saturday, the 31st, the organizers will lead an “ICE Out of Everywhere National Day of Action” demonstration that has spread across the nation to unite all 50 states.
Justice needs to be served to these individuals who have suffered and lost their lives for simply existing and abiding by the promise that this land granted upon all of us. Stand with the American people, and stand against ICE.
