Crickets

Critters crawling in the dark,

Chirping garishly like a lark,

Creeping tortuously through the grass,

Climbing briskly up tree bark.

Spirits of their earthly homes,

Sages beneath the celestial domes,

Sprawling exhaustively except on masts,

Steadfast companion of garden gnomes.

Terrestrial dwellers of enormous number,

Treading delicately across old lumber,

Traveling quickly past coiling vines,

To reach a savory cucumber.

Abundant populations within fruitful breadbaskets,

Abandoned buckets and discarded caskets,

Afloat aboard magnificent seafaring vessels,

Alternatively viewed as a racket.
